Do's
The Reception
The dancefloor
So you plan and you plan and you spend your budget and effort on every detail of the reception but there is one small issue that eludes you. The bar is set-up in a different room than the dinner and dance and that is where all of your guests end up. In some ways this might be good because people who aren't interested in dancing will have a place to gather and visit. What happened at my wedding though is that EVERYONE gathered in the other room leaving me and a few stragglers behind on the dance floor the entire night. People stayed until the end but they stayed in the other room near the bar. If I had it to do over I would have insisted that at least one bar was stationed in the reception dancing area.
Enjoy the moment
If I could go back and do one thing differently I would have spent less time worrying about the details during our reception and more time enjoying the moment. If you do all that you can before the big day and hire the right vendors, the actual reception should be spent enjoying your friends, family, and each other. Let the experienced professionals you carefully selected execute all of your instructions on their own. Take a deep breath, relinquish the need to "manage" everything, and enjoy the moment. It will all be over in a few short hours.
